Brent A Woodard, BFA, MA
About the Artist…
Brent Woodard utilizes a variety of techniques to render a broad spectrum of subject matter including commissioned oil portraits, themed murals, commercial illustration and detailed portraiture work in several mediums, including monument granite. His work is included in private, public, and Christian collections and has been featured in several juried exhibitions.
A native of Ohio, Brent spent his childhood in Lucasville. Studying and utilizing the Arts throughout his adolescence, he continued his education at The Columbus College of Art & Design, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration and a Masters of Art from the Marshall University College of Fine Arts.
Brent has worked in the fields of graphic printing, freelance illustration and newspapers. He’s had the opportunity to author many features and columns for publication pertaining to subjects as varied as politics & government and the Arts in education. He's also had the honor of writing the Forward for the book Straight Paths: Insights For Living From Those Who Have Finished The Course by Loren Hardin.
He has also worked extensively in education as a guest lecturer for Advanced Placement and College Prep Art classes, English Literature classes, as well as courses at the collegiate level. He has written curriculum for Art Appreciation, Painting, Life Drawing and Illustration, as well as The History & Art of the Holocaust.
Brent is an Adjunct Professor of Art for the West Virginia University Institute of Technology in Beckley, West Virginia, as well as an Art Professor for the University of Charleston in Charleston, West Virginia. He is also a listed artisan on the West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture and History
Artists' Register and has served on the Beckley Area Foundation (BAF) Students First Grant Selection Committee. He is a co-partner of Doman-Woodard Enterprises, of which The Rock Cries Out Studios is a subsidiary.
Brent resides in Beckley, West Virginia with his wife and children.
